Pelletizing
and Sintering
Pelletizing of raw material by combining agglomeration with
thermal energy is increasingly being used as a method of value
adding. Pelletizing is typically used in the iron ore industry
to convert raw ore into pellets with characteristics appropriate
for use in a blast furnace. It is also popular in the chemical
and food industries and in the animal feed industry.
Moisture is particularly important in the formation of the raw
pellet where it is critical in relation to the size and
strength.
Similarly moisture plays a very important role in sintering.
